Tim Mitts Announces Candidacy for New York State Senate District 42
Monroe, NY
February 2, 2026
Tim Mitts has officially announced his candidacy for New York State Senate in District 42, launching a campaign focused on community engagement, economic stability, and responsive government.
A resident of the district, Mitts said he decided to run after hearing concerns from local families, seniors, and small business owners about rising costs, public safety, and the need for practical solutions at the state level.
“Our district is a diverse group of hardworking people and retired individuals who want to feel heard and represented,” Mitts said. “I am running to bring a steady, community-focused voice to Albany and to work on issues that directly affect everyday life. I am not a politician. I am a businessman and a landlord. I know first hand the problems people in NY face with making ends meet and I will work diligently to make a better life for all in our great state.”
Mitts’ platform rests on these top concerns that he will effectively tackle in Albany:
Economic Growth and Local Business Support
Supporting policies that encourage small business development, job creation, and a strong local economy.
Public Safety and Community Services
Backing community safety initiatives, emergency services, and programs that strengthen neighborhoods.
Education and Workforce Development
Advocating for strong public schools, vocational training, and workforce programs that prepare residents for today’s job market.
Affordability and Cost of Living
Addressing property taxes, housing concerns, and everyday expenses that impact families and seniors.
Government Accountability and Transparency
Promoting ethical leadership, fiscal responsibility, and open communication between elected officials and constituents.
Mitts said he plans to meet directly with residents across the district through community events, listening sessions, and town halls.
“I am here to listen to the needs of the people and to be their voice in government. It’s time we change the status quo and start living again.”
